President Buhari's Vacation to London: My Issues With It.

PRESIDENT BUHARI PROCEEDS ON 10 DAYS VACATION

President Muhammadu Buhari will take 10 days off and travel to London on Monday June 6th to rest.

During the holiday, he will see an E.N.T. specialist for a persistent ear infection. The President was examined by his Personal Physician and an E.N.T Specialist in Abuja and was treated. Both Nigerian doctors recommended further evaluation purely as a precaution.

Opinion: While Mr President has the right to visit any part of the world for his vacation, it would have been more beneficial to the local economy if he had gone on vacation to any part of country. Imagine if President Buhari goes to Obudu Cattle Range or any other part of the country for his vacation. This would instantly boost tourism and add value to that sector of our economy. This is particularly important due to the present situation of the country. He would spend the scare foreign resources. At this stage of the economy, Mr President should not be seen, to be telling Nigerians to make sacrifices, while he is going on a vacation to a foreign country, where he would spend hard currency.

Also the idea of visiting foreign hospital for an ear infection is not the best for the image of the country. Mr President would have treated this ear infection at home, thereby helping to curtail medical tourism by Nigerians. It's a shame that Nigerian doctors treating him would recommend overseas evaluation. Hope this would be the last.
