The Federal Executive Council approved the purchase of N9.2billion worth of clean cook stoves and wonder bags for rural women, under the National Clean Cooking Scheme. The Punch Newspaper (Online Version).

Comment:Wondering if they are trying to go green and save the environment or what sort of policy arrangement is this? N9.2 billion naira to buy stoves? What will these stoves use, kerosene or electricity or coal? What is the economic value of this project? Why not use this money to cushion the effects of austerity measures? By the way, what are these wonder bags, they referred to? Who are the rural women? How many are they? What’s the unit cost per stove? Did they ask people, if they need stoves?  This looks more like a joke, than a policy instrument. Just when you think you have seen it all, the government will through another absurdity to you.

Corruption massive under President Jonathan, the United States Government warns. The Punch Newspaper (Online Version).

Comment: Thanks again to United States Government for reminding us the obvious. The President did say sometime, that if there is corruption America will know. America knew it and they are speaking it out. Only if America will do the Nigerian public a favour by seizing these illegal funds, but again, if they return the loot, it would still find its way back to America. Serious problem.

House of Reps Committee Members walk out on Inspector General of Police, because He refused to properly address Speaker Tambuwal. Sahara Reporters.

Comments:IG of Police claimed He couldn’t address Tambuwal as Speaker, because the matter was still in court. Someone should tell IG of Police, that House of Reps has not changed their leadership yet, and so far, the court has not said Tambuwal is no longer the Speaker, therefore, He is still the Speaker. House Committee exercised their right to protest, by walking out on him. Also they said, they will no longer recognize Suleiman Abba as the IG of Police, if He failed to address Tambuwal as Speaker. Tit for tat, an eye for an eye.

Buhari’s Jet barred from landing in Makurdi. Sahara Reporters.

Comment:Whoever gave the order, should be investigated. Aviation Minister/FAAN, should explain to Nigerians what their reasons are, for refusing an aircraft that was on air from landing. Previously the plane carrying Rivers State Governor Amaechi, was barred from taking off. Edo State Gov Adam Oshomole, has had similar experience too. Interestingly, all are in APC.

Obasanjo bombs Jonathan Again, Says President’s “Evil” Actions Destroying Nigerian Democracy. Obasanjo Said the Federal Government is Lying About the True State of the Economy. Premium Times

Comment:Obasanjo is right, because it takes a thief to catch a thief. He too was there, He tried to manipulate the democratic processes, so He absolutely understands what President Goodluck Jonathan is doing or trying to do. It’s left for Nigerians to resist whatever evil or manipulations that come their way. Did I hear you say Nigerians will accept anything thrown at them.

Reps List 50 Impeachable Offences Against President Jonathan. Vanguard Online News.

Comment:When did He commit these offences and why has it taken the Reps so long to realise these offences, or is it an attempt, to blackmail the President and obtain, money, favours, automatic return tickets etc. Under democratic government, there is a principle of, separation of powers between the three arms of government (judiciary, legislature and executive).  There are also checks and balances between the three arms of government. So sure that, if the Reps (legislature) were doing their checks and balances very well, the President would have sat up since, and perhaps, the nation would have been better off. But it’s never late to effect genuine changes.

Central Bank of Nigeria Devalues the Naira. The Nation Online News.

Comment:More hardships should be expected. More crimes too, since there are high level of unemployment, amongst the youths. Ask our rulers, why haven’t they diversified our economy, to be less dependent on oil. A single drop on global oil prices, are causing Nigeria/Nigerians so much headache. Imagine when the oil finishes or when there are alternatives to oil. First Republic survived without oil. Our failure to plan ahead, means we plan to fail.

“Senate President David Mark, has ordered an immediate closure of the National Assembly. The order was necessitated by heightened tension and chaos at the National Assembly, following the blocking of embattled Speaker Tambuwal from entering the Chamber to preside over the day’s sitting by armed security men”. Huhuonline News.

Comment: Show of shame. Who sent the police and why? Recall that, the same police withdrew Speaker Tambuwal security details for defecting to APC, now the police prevented him and his colleagues from carrying out, their day’s activities, which the tax payers have paid for. Police is acting out a script, written by non other, but the President. Its either the President is in support of the police or he has lost control of the police. Whatever is the case, is not good for the country. Police cannot act outside his powers at this high profile level, without a tacit support from above. Signs of desperation. To say that this happened on our President’s birthday speaks volumes.

Dear Senate President, someone has to take responsibilities for this action. Let whoever is responsible for today’s action resign, otherwise similar things will keep happening.

Buhari is More Igbo than GEJ.

Buhari held a closed door meeting with Nnamdi Azikiwe’s son (Chief Chukwuma Azikiwe) on 15/11/14, at the Onitsha residence of the Azikiwes. This was reported by today.ng (online news media). Recall, that Buhari as the PTF Chairman renovated Nnamdi Azikiwe’s compound (see the attached picture below, sourced from a friend’s Facebook page). In comparison, all President Goodluck Jonathan did, was to simply adopt the name of Azikiwe, for political gains. Presently, some spin doctors, intending to further deceive and obtain Igbo votes have nicknamed Namadi Sambo (Vice President of Nigeria) as Nnamdi Sambo. The name Nnamdi is a popular Igbo name. It’s also part of Nnamdi Azikiwe’s name.

Moving on; according to Obasanjo, Buhari’s first daughter is married to an Igbo man from Anambra State. This piece of news was reported by the online version of the Punch, on 24/10/14.

Late Dora Akunyili (Former NAFDAC Boss) worked closely with Buhari during the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) days. Sources alleged that Buhari recommended Dora Akunyili for the NAFDAC top job position.

Buhari contested with Dr Chuba Okadigbo as Vice Presidential candidate in 2003. In 2007, Buhari contested with Edwin Umezoke as Vice Presidential candidate. Buhari also went to court with Ojukwu against the rigged 2003 Presidential election. Drop your comments.

Season of Stomach Infrastructures.

One thing is certain, we have entered the season of “stomach infrastructures” because the 2015 general election is around the corner. Political activities have taken the centre stage, till major elections are over in 2015. For those who do not understand the meaning of stomach infrastructures, it means, when “politrikcians” in Nigeria, give out branded rice, kerosene, cooking oil, soap, money etc to voters, in return for their votes. The motives behind these gifts are to deceive the gullible and vulnerable Nigerian voters.

Questions to ask yourself and the politrikcians, if they spend huge amount of money distributing stomach infrastructures, what will s/he do when they get into power? Answer; they will forget the electorate, because they have settled them, with crumbs.

Advise: Resist the temptation of accepting stomach infrastructures, but if you cannot, resist the temptation, accept the “gifts/money etc” but still vote the rightful candidates. Also remember, do not kill or destroy properties on behalf of a politician. It’s not worth it. In politics there are no permanent friends or enemies but permanent interests.

Military Failed Itself.

Very pathetic and sad, to reflect, that Boko Haram, sacked the town of Mubi in Adamawa State (the home of Chief of General Staff, Air Marshall Badeh). His house was also burnt. Please let's remember, that the Chief of Defence Staff is the most senior military officer in Nigeria.

Now the question is, if the most senior military officer could not save his house, his village/town, then what is the fate of an ordinary Nigerian on the streets of Kano, Kaduna, Abuja etc.

Related to the above, was when a retired Inspector General of Police (Hafiz Ringim) ran to the United Kingdom, to seek asylum, claiming that his life was under threat by Boko Haram.

Make no mistake; there is serious fire on the mountain. Who will protect/save Nigerians?

Falling Crude Oil Prices.

The British Authorities have asked the petroleum products marketers in UK to reduce their petrol pump prices, to reflect the fall in the price of crude oil globally. BBC News, 6/11/14.

Wondering if the Nigerian government can follow suit, since we are a major oil producing country. At least to protect her citizens from further exploitation.

Presidential Hypocrisy.

President Goodluck Jonathan will be travelling to Burkina Faso as part of three man delegation of Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Heads of State and Government, to help resolve the political crises there. Ironically, he has failed to resolve the crises in Rivers State PDP. Thought charity begins at home? Furthermore, there is a major crisis at hand which is Boko Haram insurgency, that is on the rise. According to Atiku Abubakar (Former Vice President of Nigeria), “The extremist sect currently controls two local government areas in Yobe, five in Adamawa and about nine in Borno States”. The President should have stayed back to put his house in order.

Petition By Rivers State PDP Gubernatorial Aspirants, Calling For Cancellation of PDP Ward Congresses in Rivers State.

His Excellency,

Alhaji Ahmadu Adam Mu’azu

The National Chairman,

People's Democratic Party (PDP)

Wadata House,

Wuse, Abuja.

Your Excellency,

CALL FOR THE CANCELLATION OF PDP WARD CONGRESSES IN RIVERS STATE

We, the undersigned governorship aspirants, having bought the governorship nomination forms and the expression of interest forms of our great party the PDP, and having followed the events leading up to the ward delegates elections scheduled for Saturday 1st November, 2014 state as follows:

1. That as governorship aspirants, we can see that the processes leading up to the ward delegate elections, which is the foundation of all subsequent primaries, is clearly convoluted and flawed and cannot therefore produce an acceptable outcome.

2. That the PDP in Rivers State in breach of the party constitution did not conduct open registration of party members and did not authenticate party register after the Chief G.U. Ake led Executive took away the membership registers.

3. That the PDP in Rivers State did not display party registers as a condition precedent to the ward congresses as stipulated in the party constitution.

4. That as it stands, due to the defection of officers who took party registers with them, the Rivers State PDP does not have a proper membership register and the party does not have properly constituted Ward Executive Committees in most wards.

‎5. That consequent upon (4) above, the Rivers State PDP cannot have a properly constituted Ward Congresses to elect ward delegates.

6. That we had raised these and other issues in a memorandum to the South-South Integration committee submitted by Concerned Rivers State PDP Stakeholders.

7. That it is on record that our members were assaulted by thugs of a governorship aspirant and the ugly incident was widely reported in the mass media. It is unfortunate that nothing has been done about this till date.

8. That the report of the South-South Integration Committee is yet to be made public and we do not see the basis to go into the ward congresses, without the knowledge of how the Committee’s report shall impact us.

9. That the National Working Committee of our party should abide by and implement the provisions of the PDP Constitution in its Aims and Objectives in Chapter 1 item 7.3 (C) that guarantees “Adhering to the policy of rotation and zoning of party and public elective offices”.

10. That elective office in Rivers State should be zoned as has been done in Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Adamawa, and Enugu states.

11. That an unplanned visit of the National Chairman of the party to Port Harcourt was manipulated to convey some sort of endorsement of Mr. Wike even before the sale of nomination forms for the primaries.

12. To execute the plot of imposing a governorship candidate on Rivers State, membership of the Ward Congress Committee and the Appeal Panel is littered with known cronies of one of the aspirants.

13. For instance, the Secretary of the Congress Committee Mr. Chucks Akwitti works in the office of the Deputy National Chairman who is an interested party. Mr Olu Ayewoh and Mr. Lambert Opara on the Appeal panel are aides to one of the aspirants. Their membership of these panels cannot guarantee a level playing field.

PRAYERS

1. We therefore call for the immediate cancellation of the ward congresses until these grievances are addressed to avert dire consequences that could affect the fortunes of the PDP in Rivers State.

2. That the National Working Committee should order fresh registration of members of the party in order to produce authentic party membership registers for Rivers State PDP. This should be done before the ward delegate elections.

3. The PDP should abide by and implement the provisions of its Constitution in its Aims and Objectives in Chapter 1 item 7.3 (C) that guarantees “Adhering to the policy of rotation and zoning of party and public elective offices.

4. The Deputy National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus should be called to order because he has indicated sufficient interest in one of the aspirants and therefore lacks the moral and political justification to preside over the process of selecting a gubernatorial candidate for the PDP in Rivers State.

Practical Ways to Combat Insecurity in Nigeria.

Prof. I.O. Mbachu, a lecturer at the department of political science and defence studies, Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Kaduna, was a guest on C.V.Akuta Radio Show, Leicester-UK, today 1/11/14. He shared his views on the practical ways to combat insecurity in Nigeria. First, he identified poverty as the main causes of insecurity. He opined that poverty rate in Nigeria is simply too much. He touched on the regional colouration of insecurity in Nigeria. The solution to insecurity, will begin, when the government becomes serious with providing jobs. He spoke on other critical issues.
